Growing up through the mid-80's through the 90's video games were a large part of my life. As a superbly geeky little nubbin I went through the usualy fangirl obsession with anime that hit everyone experiencing puberty during the 90's. Of course with my alternate-leaning personality the series Ranma 1/2 struck home pretty hard. So did Utena, but since all the Utena games were those silly visual novel types I didn't drool over the import video game list as much as I did with the Ranma games.
Fast forward to now, a struggling techie with a penchant for writing game articles and I figured I'd start spotlighting some of the games I saw back then, now. "Now" meaning through horridly jaded angry eyes. A lot of these games have gone through fan translations into english and thanks to some soldering ability I picked up, I can now play english versions of games America never got.
Was it a good thing we didn't? Like Super Mario Bros. 2 - were we Americans too dumb or non-talented to play it?
Or did we miss some hidden gems?
I'll hope to help out, and maybe help some classic gaming importers out in the meantime. First up? A Ranma game of course. Namely:

Yep, not only an anime based game, but a RPG to boot. Screenshot taken from Mobygames without permission, and will be replaced with one I personally made. Apologies Mobygames but since my readership is in the zero to three range I'm sure you won't mind the (lack of) bandwidth drain.
So, a game I drooled over for years... finally in english, being played on my very own official Super Nintendo hardware. Was it everything I hoped for? Was it made of massive fail? Find out soon!
